My name is David Strauss, I am a painter, economist, philosopher, photographer, artist, life. Here are some of my paintings and poems. All pieces are oil on canvas (unless otherwise stated). The figurative art is divided into:<\/p>\r\n\r\n

When did we go wrong?<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\r\n

 <\/em><\/p>\r\n

When trees turned timber producers?<\/em><\/p>\r\n

Lakes became recreational areas?<\/em><\/p>\r\n

Animals nothing but toys and food?<\/em><\/p>\r\n

When nature succumbed to a mere resource?<\/em><\/p>\r\n

When we became consumption hunters? Our Ego started dominating life?<\/em><\/p>\r\n

Do you remember – when did instrumentalization become our god?<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\nngg_shortcode_1_placeholder\r\n\r\n

Hidden<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n

All thoughts obscured by words, Feelings smothered in speech.<\/p>\r\n

I try in vain to reach you, my being always ruptured in your world.<\/p>\r\n

Even the most tender of touches, never reveals its true being – transformed by your Gods.<\/p>\r\n

My being always and forever veiled,, as my God not yours – and blindness prevails.<\/p>\r\nngg_shortcode_2_placeholder\r\n

The Storm <\/strong><\/h2>\r\n

When the storm comes raging – what are we to do?<\/p>\r\n

No way to defend ourselves, no place to hide.<\/p>\r\n

Slowly it consumes everything, leaving nothing but desert behind.<\/p>\r\n

Soon we\u2019ll all be gone, long forgotten in time.<\/p>\r\n

The saddest thing:<\/p>\r\n

Brother kills brother,<\/p>\r\n

as the storm – humanity divine –<\/p>\r\n

too blind to see: We\u2019re nothing but life.<\/p>\r\nngg_shortcode_3_placeholder\r\n

Dying for Virunga<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\r\n

We call ourselves developed and civilized. – a culture with great values,<\/p>\r\n

criticize others as backward, but what does the brisk look reveal?<\/p>\r\n

We kill species millions of years old, for the black gold and some little bling bling.<\/p>\r\n

The new car is not dirty, doesn’t mean your hands are not bloody.<\/p>\r\n

The true costs veiled in our hiddeous system,<\/p>\r\n

millions of animals die every day for our consumption.<\/p>\r\n

We steal their habitat, pollute the air,<\/p>\r\n

turn jungles to deserts – no different than to shoot them ourselves.<\/p>\r\n

Who are we, that we think we have the right to assassinate the last of the silverbacks,<\/p>\r\n

to buy a new phone with the oil of Virunga,<\/p>\r\n

and post a photo on Facebook \u2013 as a lover of nature in the zoo.<\/p>\r\n\r\nngg_shortcode_4_placeholder\r\n\r\n

The dance of silence<\/h2>\r\n

They want to crush me with all their noise and screams,<\/p>\r\n

               who shouts loudest                spreads the truth –                in today’s time                forgotten the peace<\/p>\r\n

But before I succumb to your values and being<\/p>\r\n

               I prefer to retreat into                my inner being and world                And play my own song                in the dance of silence.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\nngg_shortcode_5_placeholder\r\n\r\n\r\n

Swan Song<\/h3>\r\n

The church bells call to the last song, I am safely tucked away in silence beautiful clang.<\/p>\r\n

You mourn for the peace of my soul, in gods’ fight for people love.<\/p>\r\n

You stand in the middle of your gray, barren desert; Wondering why I can’t find your god’s teats.<\/p>\r\n

But I already have long since arrived, embraced in life-god’s Harem.<\/p>\r\n
